The 60th Annual Grammy Award nominations are in, and when it comes to rock and metal artists, the tally includes multiple nominations for Metallica, Foo Fighters and Mastodon. 

Metallica's pummeling track "Atlas, Rise!" is nominated in the Best Rock Song category, and their latest studio album, Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct, is up for Best Rock Album.

Foo Fighters' single "Run" is up for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. The band's producer Greg Kurstin is also nominated for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

Mastodon scored two Grammy nominations: "Sultan's Curse" is up for Best Metal Performance, and Emperor of Sand is nominated for Best Rock Album.

Late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell is nominated for Best Rock Performance for his song, "The Promise."
