Following the recent unfortunate news about Dead & Company having to postpone the final three shows on their current tour owing to John Mayer’s emergency appendectomy surgery, there’s now some good news for Grateful Dead fans.

Grateful Dead founding members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir have announced a new tour which will see them performing as a duo, featuring acoustic and electric sets, playing Dead classics as well as drawing from their solo catalogues. The tour will see them perform six shows in three cities – New York, Boston and Chicago – in March 2018.

According to a statement from Weir, “I guess it was last summer, Phil and I played a little duo show. We had enough fun so we figured, 'Hey, let's do this, let’s make a little go of this." 

Speaking to Billboard, Phil Lesh said, “We're going to play everything we can think of. We’re going to do his [Weir’s] stuff, we’re going to do my stuff, we’re going to play Jerry’s stuff, we’ll do Grateful Dead stuff and we’ll do covers. We're going to try and play everything we've ever played together and maybe some new stuff too."
