If you’re a Tool fan, it’s been a long wait for the follow-up to their last album, 10,000 Days, which released more than a decadeago, in 2006. Over the last year, there have been numerous hints that the band are currently at work on a new album and that a release is (relatively speaking, given the decade-long wait) just around the corner.

A few days ago, while speaking to Loudwire about his other project, Legend of The Seagullmen (with Mastodon’s Brett Hinds, among others), Tool drummer Danny Carey was asked for an update on the album and said, “Yes. I’m saying definitely. We’ll probably have it done in the first half [of the year] if things go as planned. There’s setup times and manufacturing – I can never predict all that, it seems like it’s constantly evolving. [What time of year it will be out] I can’t tell you."

Of course, his Tool bandmate, frontman Maynard James Keenan was not as forthcoming with the details. When asked on Twitterto confirm Carey’s revelation, Keenan simply replied “Burp.”

So, in essence: it’ll be ready when it’s ready.

In the meantime, Legends of the Seagullmen will release their self-titled debut on February 9.
